#omg this scene #I love how… god literally it’s just John screaming in a silent room? #John’s going absolutely fucking insane with rage here #this is the loudest he’s ever gotten in the entire show #he is absolutely terrifying really #(god this acting is amazing) #but meanwhile everyone else is JUST STANDING THERE…. #I mean Richard is talking and pleading and stuff but he’s still quiet and he’s not moving around a lot #he just stays in that position by the wall with his hands up and whimpers and stuff #and then Reilly is standing behind John with that god-awful smug smile on her face JESUS I HATE HER #but she’s still quiet #just enjoying watching John try to grapple with this information and losing his temper completely #she’s enjoying watching the truth come out and see the ever-loyal Doctor Watson refuse to accept or process it #refuse to even understand it #insist that Sherlock has to explain what the fuck is going on because John refuses to even dignify this with understanding let alone acce… #acceptance #he’s refusing to even think about it #he’s just sort of whiting out and screaming because this isn’t happening #and Reilly is just watching and pitying him #and reveling in her brilliant uncovering of the truth #it all makes sense now she thinks #look at poor Doctor Watson he’s practically having his heart broken #and then Sherlock’s just watching Moriarty and listening to John #he’s not defending himself or anything #he was blindsided by this development and he gives Moriarty a few moments of undisguised admiration for it #but then his temper builds #because John’s ranting and he knows what this scene is about #it’s about breaking them #breaking their relationship apart #and then Sherlock loses his temper too and it’s inhuman

And John remains blissfully unaware that The Doctor visited Sherlock years ago and gave him the skull. It was a skull he’d discovered in a ruined church, a thousand years in the future. He couldn’t re-bury it in the grave it came from, because that was completely destroyed, so he took it and gave it to a young Sherlock. 

‘This will keep you company until you meet him,’ the Doctor said with a smile.

Sherlock took the skull and immediately began examining it. ‘Who is it? Or rather, who was it?’

‘It’s all that’s left of an old man who lived a good life and became the most important person in yours’.

The Doctor never gave him the name he so desperately wanted, but as soon as he met John Watson on that fateful day in St. Bart’s, Sherlock knew.
